After a hiatus of nearly 20 years I’ve decided to get back into the aero-modelling. I looked up my old club Dublin Kestrel Model Flying Club, and popped over to their new field in Ballyfolan to see if there was room for one more. I was glad to find that yes, they were looking for new members, and so the hunt for a new model was on.

My girlfriend bought me a RealFlight G5 simulator for X-Mas, and I’ve been busy training. I’ve found flying the aerobatic models in the simulator seems easier than flying the trainers, hopefully the real world will be somewhat similar.

After reading a review in Model Airplane News, I finally settled on a Thunder Tiger DeHaviland Beaver, an Irvine .46, and Futaba 6EX 2.4Ghz, which I ordered from Sussex Model Centre (excellent service, arrived in 2 days, £14.50 delivery to Ireland).
